This is a weekly (mostly video) game design newsletter. I want to help others avoid the same mistakes I made and generally give back to the industry I love so much (among other reasons).
I founded Unknown Worlds in 2003 and was the original creator of Natural Selection, Natural Selection 2, Subnautica and Vampire the Masquerade: Vendetta.
Essay topics include game systems design, survival mechanics, specific design decisions in the below games, design leadership, finding fun in your games and more about where design meets business. I hope it will be mostly design, but I’ve seen quite the appetite for business and leadership as well, so I’ll be covering some of that.
